We currently offer very short wait-times for appointments and rapid turnaround times for high quality assessment reports so you can get the answers you need faster!

-
First: Call our office or use our contact form to schedule an appointment. We offer free 15-minute consultation calls to help determine which evaluation is right for you.
Second: You will be provided with a link to a HIPAA-secure patient portal to complete necessary paperwork and intake forms. You can also provide medical or academic records through this portal or fax them to our office.
Third: Complete the evaluation in person or over a secure HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Evaluations typically include a one-hour clinical interview, several hours of paper and pencil and computerized tests to assess your cognitive abilities, and self-report questionnaires about your concerns. Some evaluations, such as for ADHD, also require a brief interview with a collateral source. Evaluations are typically completed in one session; occasionally an additional session is required for particularly lengthy testing.
Fourth: Approximately 2 weeks after the evaluation you will have a feedback session with Dr. Rhyner to discuss all of the results and recommendations from your evaluation. A comprehensive written report will also be provided for you detailing these results and can be sent to other providers, schools, etc. at your request. Your results are confidential and will never be shared without your permission.
-
It is often helpful to have a family member, partner, or caregiver accompany you to the first part of the evaluation (clinical interview) to help provide information about your history and current concerns. They are also welcome to attend the feedback session to discuss the test results and recommendations. No one except the patient is allowed to be present during the testing portion of the evaluation, this applies to in-person and telehealth evaluations.

Fees FAQs
-
Prices for evaluations vary depending on the type of evaluation and level of complexity involved in the case. Please see our Services page for price ranges for particular types of evaluations. We will provide you with information about the specific cost for your evaluation during the initial phone or email consultation prior to scheduling your appointment so there are no surprises! We also offer expedited reports (7 days) for an additional $300 fee.
-
No, Flower City Psychology is self-pay only and does not accept insurance or bill insurance directly. We are happy to provide you with a detailed superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement of some of the cost of the evaluation.
-
Insurance companies often offer low reimbursement rates that don’t fully cover the cost of neuropsychological services, provide conflicting and confusing information to patients, or consider these evaluations to not be medically necessary and therefore excluded from coverage.
By not working with insurance, we are able to provide more personalized, flexible care tailored to each patient’s needs, without restrictions or delays that insurance processes may require. This also allows us to offer transparent, predictable pricing, so patients know exactly what to expect financially. We believe this approach helps us maintain the highest standard of care and ensures a better overall experience for our patients.
-
We accept payment via cash, credit/debit card, and HSA/FSA cards. Payment is fast and convenient through your HIPAA-secure patient portal.
-
Payment in full is required prior to the feedback session and release of the report. Payment can be made in full prior to the initial session, or payment can be split in half, with the first payment due prior to the first session and the second payment due at the feedback session. We are unable to offer payment plans for evaluation services.
-
Given the extensive time required for these evaluations, a $200 fee will be charged for any no-shows or cancellations with less than 48 hours notice. Exceptions may be made for in-person evaluations in the event of a severe weather event.
